SCREENING REQUIREMENTS
HQMC staff agencies and commands are requested to conduct a comprehensive screening process and forward no more than two highly qualified candidates who exhibit strong leadership/management competencies. If forwarding more than one applicant, please prioritize. This is a very competitive program; a panel of DoD leaders will select a limited number of applicants to participate. Applicants are encouraged to carefully review and comply with the application requirements, and to document their participation in mentoring and other leadership development activities in their nomination package.
NOMINATION REQUIREMENTS
Each nomination package must be completed using Times New Roman 12 pitch font and include the following items in the same order as listed below (a Word document may be used to meet the 12 pitch font requirement):
- Command letter of endorsement stating the selection was based on a competitive process. If submitting more than one nomination, list the nominees in priority order.
- Nomination Package Checklist (see 2 forms below). This checklist is intended to ensure the nomination package is complete and the nominee is eligible and qualified to compete. Incomplete packages will not be considered. (NOTE: Ignore all references to rank order and cover letter. Those items will be completed at the DoD Component level, which is USMC/DON.)
- DSLDP Nominee Information Sheet (see below)
- A current, signed and dated, resume (no more than 3 pages). (See template below)
- Supervisor's Assessment (attached), including Higher Level Endorsement, if necessary (complete all items except component rank and component official's signature block).
- Narrative Statement of Achievements (see instructions below).
- Statement of Interest (see below).
- Latest performance appraisal.
- Current SF-50, Notification of Personnel Action
- Transcripts for baccalaureate degree, or higher, from an accredited institution (unofficial copies are acceptable during the nomination process).
